This week so far I've done a lot on my self care plan! I've taken my dog for a walk, went for a bike ride, cleaned the house, and I will be playing volleyball tomorrow night as well! I've also been reading my book which I have in my self care plan, listened to new music, and I read the Daily Herald most days of the week. My social activities include lunch with my dad, but my dad is coming over for dinner tonight so that counts! So far I've found my self care plan very helpful and I enjoy all the activities on there.
I've also been working very hard on my portfolio this week. I updated my resume and included my internship on there as well. I like the way my resume looks and think its very professional. There is so much to complete before looking for a job is even possible. All I can say is that I'm working very hard and hope that someday my hard work will pay off!

Week 6 WHS
For my interviewing a working professional, I believe I'm going to interview one of my counselors at Wausau Health Services. I'm not sure where I want to do my second internship and so far I really enjoy working at Wausau Health Services. I know I want to do my second internship in an ATODA working facility. I've also been working on updating my resume now that I've been working here for a few weeks. Hopefully having some experience will benefit me in the working profession. I've noticed since I've been attending NTC and have some field experience I feel more confident that I will do a great job in this field. I'm really excited to finish up my schooling and start searching for a career.

Week 5 WHS
So far I've been preparing for my portfolio project, but have not yet started it. I've been gathering material that is needed to add to it, but tend to keep changing things as the weeks go on. I have a pretty good understanding of what is expected of me for this project, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I want to make sure my work is perfect! I think this is a great tool to use once I graduate and I believe it should be very well organized and professional.
I believe both my general education classes and my human service classes have both been integrated into my field placement. The most important factor I believe would be communication skills. I need to communicate with my supervisor, my counselors, and my teacher to make sure everything runs smoothly. I've also notice how much my Methods of Social Case Work class has paid off for my internship. I know how to organize case files and understand them completely. I learn something new everyday and so far I'm truly enjoying my internship and I can't wait to step out and actually work in the Human Service Field.

Discussion Board
I believe I have been participating well in the discussion board so far this semester. I always make sure to have my initial post done before Wednesday. I then check back later in the week to update my post and share what I have learned so far in the week. I then respond to two of my classmates and respond to posts that were addressed to myself. One area I have seen myself lacking in would be addressing other classmates with different approaches. I saw my points going down a little so I made sure to pay special attention to that this week. The response techniques to others I use would be relating to their topic and also asking questions about what they were discussing.

Week 2
Four goals I hope to achieve throughout this class in order of 1 being the most important would be:
1.) To get a thorough understanding of what it's like working in a position dealing with addiction.
2.) To get a better understanding of methadone and how it's used in treatment in a healthy manner.
3.) To work more hands on with treatment plans and progress notes so I have a better understanding of both.
4.) To shadow counselors and see first hand what their job all consists of.
All of these goals are important to me and I believe are important for me to learn throughout this experience. It's also nice to be able to discuss with other students in the class where they are interning at so I can learn from their experiences as well.
The best thing that happened to me this week was actually getting in touch with my supervisor for my internship at Wausau Health Services. This is the second week of class and I still haven't been able to log any hours yet. I have a meeting with her this Friday to discuss my schedule further so I will have a better idea of how many hours a week I will be working.
This is also my main concern. I really worry I won't be able to finish all of my hours on time. I want to put in 150 hours because of the new program coming about as well. I work a full time job on top of putting in my intern hours and trying to work the two together is difficult. The internship is mostly mornings which I can do, but I'm not sure I can put enough hours in weekly to fulfill my total amount of hours by the end of class.

How I'm feeling about Field 1 this week
After reading all the requirements for field experience 1 and listening to the videos for this week, I have to admit I'm slightly nervous of how this is all going to unfold. It seems like a lot of work on top of completing all of my hours within 8 weeks. The thing I'm most nervous about would be making sure I'm able to complete all of my hours in on time. I work a full time job on top of adding an internship to my schedule. I have a positive attitude going into this knowing it will be hard and also test my ability to be able to work in this field. I'm excited to learn more about my field placement and what they all have to offer. I have everything set up with my field placement with Wausua Health Services and hope to start working next week. As for one new thing I learned this week would be how to create a blog and be able to customize it to my liking and style! This is my first time blogging and I'm still getting used to how this works, honestly learning something new each time I log on lol! :) Saving the best for last.... something good that happened to me this week.... I was able to spend some time with my family Tuesday evening for my little cousins birthday. I don't get to see my family much and truly enjoy the time I do get to spend with them!
